‘What’s the perfect blog length?’
‘You’ve only written 800 words, but I read something that said it should be at least 2500 words if it is to rank.”
Sound familiar?
I have always said the perfect blog length is the number of words it takes to demonstrate your knowledge, engage your reader and get your point across.
No magical number will guarantee great rankings for your posts.
The problem is, there are so many articles out there with flashy graphs and alleged cast iron statistics that claim to have come up with the perfect formula for words vs rankings, few people listen to little old me.
You can imagine my joy, therefore, when I read Rand Fishkin’s recent post on Moz Blogs that starts off by saying:
“The perfect blog post length or publishing frequency doesn’t actually exist. “Perfect” isn’t universal — your content’s success depends on tons of personalized factors. In today’s Whiteboard Friday, Rand explains why the idea of “perfect” is baloney when it comes to your blog, and lists what you should actually be looking for in a successful publishing strategy.”
Hallejula!
I urge you to head over to his post to read more (there’s a video too if you’d rather listen) and why “The Perfect Blog Post Length and Publishing Frequency is B?!!$#÷x”
